To be honest, a form of this has been brewing for a long time in my life. Scripture reading has been key to my own spiritual formation since I made a genuine commitment to follow Christ in 1971. Ever since that day, Scripture has been at the center of my reading, studying, praying, preaching, and teaching.

And then during my five years of doctoral studies at Oblate School of Theology, my love for God, Scripture, and spiritual transformation became an even more passionate pursuit. This occurred as I discovered lectio divina as it was understood, developed, and practiced within medieval monastic life. Their profound love for Christ, their insatiable desire to know him, and be formed into his likeness was deeply inspiring and motivating. As I began to read Scripture with their model of lectio divina, it occurred to me that this was also a way that I could serve the church beyond pastoring a local congregation.

Despite my total lack of experience with developing a website or a Youtube Channel, COVID-19 pushed me to launch lectio4life online.

My hope is to inspire and equip God's people to make the personal reading of Scripture the central spiritual practice for their own formation and to adopt lectio divina as a preferred way of engaging God through the Scripture.
